Wood (wikipedia)
Lumber
(American English) or timber (British English, Hiberno-English, New Zealand
English, and Australian English) is wood that has been processed into beams and
planks, a stage in the process of wood production.
Engineered wood, also
called composite wood, man-made wood, or manufactured board; includes a range
of derivative wood products which are manufactured by binding or fixing the
strands, particles, fibers, or veneers or boards of wood, together with
adhesives, or other methods of fixation to form composite materials.
Wood flooring is any product
manufactured from timber that is designed for use as flooring, either
structural or aesthetic.
A house is a building that functions as a home for humans or other
creatures, ranging from simple dwellings such as rudimentary huts of nomadic
tribes to complex structures composed of many systems.
The names of parts of a house often echo the names
of parts of other buildings, but could typically include:
1. An attic
or a loft is a space found directly below the pitched roof of a house or other
building (also called garret or sky parlor),
2. A bathroom is a room for
personal hygiene, generally containing a bathtub or a shower, and possibly also
a bidet,
3. A bedroom
is a room where people sleep,
4. Traditionally, and often seen in country houses
and larger suburban houses up until the 1930s in Britain, the box room was literally
for the storage of boxes, trunks, portmanteaux, and the like, rather than for
bedroom use,
5. A dining room is a room for
consuming food. In modern times it is usually adjacent to the kitchen for
convenience in serving, although in medieval times it was often on an entirely
different floor level. Historically the dining room is furnished with a rather
large dining table and a number of dining chairs; the most common shape is
generally rectangular with two armed end chairs and an even number of un-armed
side chairs along the long sides,
6. The family room is designed to
be a place where family and guests gather for group recreation like talking,
reading, watching TV, and other family activities,
7. In Western architecture, a living room or
lounge room (informal: lounge) is a room in a residential house for relaxing
and socializing. Such a room is sometimes called a front room when it is near
the main entrance at the front of the house,
8. A residential garage is part of
a home, or an associated building, designed or used for storing a vehicle or
vehicles,
9. A kitchen
is a room or part of a room used for cooking and food preparation,
10. A laundry room (also called
a utility room) is a room where clothes are washed. In a modern home, a laundry
room would be equipped with an automatic washing machine and clothes dryer, and
often a large basin, called a laundry tub, for hand-washing delicate articles
of clothing such as sweaters, and an ironing board. A typical laundry room is
located in the basement of older homes, but in many modern homes, the laundry
room might be found on the main floor near the kitchen or upstairs near the
bedrooms,
11. A study is a room in a house
which is used for paperwork, computer work, or reading,
12. A pantry
is a room where food, provisions, dishes, or linens are stored and served in an
ancillary capacity to the kitchen,
13. Shrines
to serve the religious functions associated with a family,
14. A stair
is one step in a flight of stairs. Also called a stairstep,
15. A sunroom (also solarium, garden
room, and other variations) is a structure, either attached or integrated into
a building such as a home, restaurant, or office, which allows enjoyment of the
surrounding landscape while being sheltered from adverse weather,
16. A swimming pool, swimming
bath, wading pool, paddling pool (or simply a pool), is a man-made container
filled with water intended for swimming or other water-based recreation.
